Summary: "VERY ENJOYABLE, QUICK READ!"
Second installment in the series, this story revolves Rutherford Hawksley. Hawksley is devil may care, penniless and estranged from his loathsome father. He has been on a quest of revenge. His brother was murdered and he has been trying avenge his death.
He believes Lord Doulton is tied to the murder and when he hears that Doulton has hired some villains to murder Miss. Clara Dawson, as she makes her way into London, he decides to foil the attempt on the woman's life to question her as to why would Doulton wants her killed.
Haksley in stunned to find that Clara is free spirited, extremely intelligent and beautiful beyond belief. As he "kidnaps" Clara, with the intent of finding out what is her connection with Doulton, he realizes that she is an innocent pawn in the mystery and he takes her to his home to ensure that she is safe. Clara is a mathematician and has an uncanny ability to solve problems, due to looking at them in a rational way. Hawksley soon realizes that he is falling for the beautiful and amazing Clara and also realizes he needs her Sherlock Holmes abilities to solve the murder of this brother, Frederick.
The pot thickens and temperaments clash. Clara can't believe that Hawksley is attracted to her and eventually succumbs to is charms as he can't seem to keep his hands off her!
A delightful sequel in the series. A few of the characters from SOME LIKE IT WICKED make an appearance. Biddles, now happily married to Anna - who helps Hawksley and Clara solve the mystery. The baddies get their comeuppance and all is well that ends well. Sensual, witty and with and amazing hero and heroine, SOME LIKE IT SINFUL is a not to be missed read!

Summary: "Decent Mystery but the leads were a little boring"
Lacking a bit of pizzazz but with a decent plot, Some Like it Wicked is a fast moving story but the characters, especially the leads make this story rather mediocre. The hero was a bit of a mystery and the heroine lacked charm and I never really empathized with her throughout the novel.
Rutherford Hawksley saves heroine Clara Dawson from the vile hands of a noble he believes killed his brother. Supposedly Clara has information which said noble wants and then he intends to do away with her. Since Hawksley is trying to bring his brother's murderer to justice he stops Clara's coach and kidnaps her.
Clara is a spinsterish mathematician who is on her way to meet Mr. Chesterfield, a fellow mathematician in London. They have corresponded for over a year and now she gets the opportunity to meet someone as intelligent and logical as she is. The author painstakingly lets the reader know how smart Clara is, she is so observant, so smart, so rational. She is not emotional at all, playing into the stereotype that mathematicians are rather colorless. (My math teacher friends would disagree with this and I would too. These ladies are vibrant and funny) Clara is also demanding. In fact I noticed that the author actually used the word demanded whenever Clara asked a question.
Hawksley finds Clara beautiful and she is a total breath of fresh air. Seems Hawksley must love to bed stupid girls and Clara's braininess is unexpected. Clara hears Hawksley's reasoning behind her kidnapping, logically goes along with his plan then sets about to help him in his quest. This is one area where I did admire Clara's reasoning skills, she knew how to listen.
Hawksley has a wicked past, he is shunned by his family, but I never saw it in the present nor was it revealed too much in his past. He seems rather normal if not a little noble. His friends are more interesting than he is.
Clara who is the rational one behaves so with little emotion until the end of the novel then she throws caution to the wind when she is angry with Hawksley. I had a hard time believing it was the same character she never even screamed when Hawkley abducted her earlier in the novel, but then walks right into danger.
What makes this novel memorable were the secondary characters, they are mysterious and have just a touch of the bad boy. The mystery was pretty good and even genius Clara did not figure out the whodunit until the end.

Loved it. Very believable and enjoyable story from start to finish. Real reactions, no writerly posturing, no stupid heroine doing stupid daring things to get the attention of the hero. I strongly recommend.

Deborah Raleigh captivates historical romance readers in this second of the "Some Like It..." series with the handsome and dangerous Rutherford Hawksley and the spirited, beautiful, and intelligent Clara Dawson. Clara, left alone after her father's death finds comfort in a pen pal mathmatical equation relationship with a certain Mr. Chesterfield, not knowing that this relationship is to bring her danger and into the arms of the wickedly handsome Hawksley. She doesn't stand a chance with this tall, dark, handsome stranger the moment she looks into his dark blue eyes. But neither does Hawksley, as the beautiful Clara, as beautiful inside as out, rescues him from a life of loneliness and abuse from his aristocratic upbringing. They are drawn to each other from the moment Hawksley saves her from attempted murder and together they work to solve the murder of his older brother. Biddles and Anna are back from the first book, and the sexy Santos. As a fan of the sensual historical romance, this book did not disappoint. It is sinfully delicious, but I was left wanting more, which is why I give it 4 Stars. It would have been wonderful to complete the story and the relationship after Clara and Hawksley's marriage and their acceptance into "The Ton." This story needs a sequel! Maybe the villians can return from the colonies? I look forward to the next in the Some Like It series coming in 2007,"Some Like It Brazen."

Summary: "Boderline Moronic"
I have never felt the need to write a review before, and I greatly appreciate those who do as they give me insight on the book at hand.
This one is beyond stupid. Most of it was unbeliveable and some of it was absurd. I wish I could give it half a star for trying, but that isn't a choice.
The characters were dull and the drama silly. Normally it takes me 2-3 days to breeze thru a book (and I have a toddler)but this one was almost painful to complete. And in fact I didn't even finish the last 3 pages because I couldn't have cared if they made it together or not.
